So finding ‘time to train’ can sometimes be a serious challenge. We’re always freakin’ busy,  there are a million other events, projects, tasks etc that require our attention before training. (Let me quickly note something here for you – The older you get the busier you get. It’s just the way life is. More responsibilities, more people want your time and well ‘spare time’ becomes a thing for the lazy.)

Now I could sit here and tell you ‘JUST DO IT’, just make time and train, but I don’t believe that’s what you’re looking for. Instead I want to tell you that there are ways to ‘MAXIMISE’ your training time which will ensure that you get the most out of every minute you find to invest.

You see almost 2 years ago to this day, my ‘free time’ pretty much became non-existant. I had 2 very little kids, an 18 month old and a new born, (Anyone with kids will tell you that’s a recipe for sh*t storm) a full time job, only one income and setting up a side business. Everyone told me that somethings gotta give and the ‘training’ had to go.

I was staring down the path of  having to live in an ‘AVERAGE’ physique again – losing my hard earned abs, dominant chest and relatively well chiselled back – in a matter of weeks if I didn’t come up with a strategy.

Some might say – just do a few push-ups and pull-ups in between feeding sessions, go for a run on the weekend, walk the kids each morning in the pram etc. All ‘good’ options for the ‘average’ guy right, but I refuse to be the norm, I refuse to settle for the middle, so I had to find something else.

Look, body weight training and cardio has it’s place, they’re great options for those just starting out, for those that are beginning their quest to be the best, but it’s not going to pack on the muscle I want and the keep the muscle I have. So I had to create a way to train that would allow me to bust out a great session in under 30min (while the kids slept) and would allow me to build muscle and burn fat at the same time.

So I hiit (pun intended) the drawing board, created my own HiiT circuit programs that I continually tested and perfected over time. I found a way to ‘get in and get out’ when I had a spare moment i.e – when the rat pack had their naps, while meal time was in full swing or when work thought I had a client meeting.

The whole set-up cost me less than $150 (ab roller, 10kg dumbbells & dip bars) and I was back in business boys!

Since then these HiiT circuits are a staple in my weekly training, not to mention the whole set-up is portable. So during my holidays with the family I pack it all into the car and have a training circuit wherever we go. Never a reason to NOT have a six-pack, NOT have a well chiseled chest and NOT to have that Men’s Health cover model physique.
